REVIEW OF VICTIMS’ INVOLVEMENT IN THE SENTENCING PROCESS
The NSW Attorney General has asked the NSW Sentencing Council to conduct a review of victims’ involvement in the sentencing process.
In giving us the terms of reference the Attorney General noted that often questions are raised about the nature and extent of victims’ involvement in sentencing, minimising victims’ distress in proceedings, and who can be considered a victim and make victim impact statements.
The NSW Sentencing Council is inviting preliminary submissions from interested stakeholders that will form the basis of a consultation paper that deals with these and other issues. Preliminary submissions should address the issues you would like covered under the terms of reference for the review.

The deadline for preliminary submissions is Monday 31 July 2017.
