United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has partnered with the University of Pennsylvania to launch a free open online course focused on social norms and social change.
The course discusses several issues that are closely related to human rights such as child marriage, gender violence and sanitation practices and is taught in two parts. The first part is theory based and teaches students how to distinguish between social constructs and social norms, such as customs or conventions. The second part is practical and teaches students how to measure social norms, the expectations that support them and how to determine whether they cause specific behaviours.
The complete course is run over a 4 week period and requires a commitment of 2-3 hours per week.Once you have enrolled you will get access to the lectures and materials to commence your study.
Individuals wishing to obtain a University of Pennsylvania/UNICEF certification can opt-in for a paid verified certificate.
