FACILITATIVE MEDIATION PRACTICE

Five day workshop: 15-19 June, 9am to 5pm, JCU City Campus, Townsville

This 5 day workshop provides participants with a strong grounding in facilitative mediation, and the opportunity to develop practical skills used as a facilitative mediator. The workshop meets the requirements of the National Mediator Accreditation Standards, and after completing this training participants are eligible to sit the competency assessment for National Accreditation as a mediator under the Standards. The workshop gives participants essential negotiation, mediation and communication skills required to become a mediator. Participants will also receive individual coaching on their mediation skills from experienced practitioners.

Your Trainers:

Sonia Muller & Richard Dening

Sonia is Nationally Accredited Mediator under the Australian Standards and has been a mediation practitioner for over ten years in the neighbourhood, spousal, workplace and Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) arenas. Most recently, Sonia has taken on work for the Family Court as a Child Consent Order Conference convenor.

Richard spent two years working for the Dispute Resolution Branch at the Department of Justice and Attorney General proving restorative justice, neighbourhood, spousal and court connected mediation services. Richard is currently employed at the Public Safety Business Agency as a senior consultant in conflict management.

Professional Development (PD) Training

Our training is recognised for Continuing Professional Development points by many organisations and professional associations, particularly where conflict management is seen a relevant professional skill. JCU will provide certificates to participants who complete the training.

The fee for the 5 day workshop is $2000.

Getting credit for a subject of the Conflict Management and Resolution Program

The 5 day workshop is a component of the subject LB5501 in the Master of Conflict Management and Resolution (MCMR) course. PD students are not required to complete any written assessment; however, you may choose to do so in order to receive credit for the subject towards a postgraduate course.

The fee for enrolling in the LB5501 subject as a miscellaneous student is $2,940.
