CMR Program Update: Asia Pacific Mediation Conference

Claire Holland, a Lecturer in the Conflict Management and Resolution program, recently presented at the 7th Asia Pacific Mediation Forum (APMF) conference in Lombok, Indonesia. The conference theme was ‘Synergizing Eastern and Western Constructs of Mediation Towards Better Understanding’. Claire presented on the JCU Interfaith Project that began running interfaith dialogues on the JCU Townsville Campus in 2015. The JCU Interfaith Project aims to increase religious literacy on campus through dialogue for a deeper understanding and appreciation of student diversity and recognition of pluralism in the wider community. The APMF conference had 150 attendees from 14 different countries. The presentations were diverse and ranged from traditional village mediation practice in Indonesia to family mediations in the Federal Circuit Court of Australia.
