National Alternative Dispute Resolution Advisory Council CLOSED

Unexpected announcement: NADRAC closed today
If you are concerned, please write to the Prime Minister

Dear Members,

We have heard today that NADRAC (National Alternative Dispute Resolution Advisory Council) has been closed.

Sadly, there has not been consultation about this closure with ADR organisations. The Chair and members of NADRAC have been told of the closure today, not having been alerted previously that this closure was under consideration.

LEADR has written to the Prime Minister and copied the Attorney General expressing our disappointment.

We encourage members who are similarly concerned to write also.  We think it would be beneficial for the government to receive feedback about the extent of agreement and disagreement with this decision.  A strong indicator of agreement/disagreement will be the number of letters that the government receives.

If you wish to express concern you may find the following points helpful. Rather than a form letter, LEADR encourages members to craft letters that represent your views accurately. Letters need only be quite short – sending them quickly may have greatest effect.

  • NADRAC has undertaken many significant projects and extensive research that have helped to promote a culture and greater use of ADR.
  • NADRAC provided vital support and assistance in establishing the Mediator Standards Board and the National Mediator Accreditation System.
  • The NADRAC 2012 publication Your Guide to Dispute Resolution provides a comprehensive and easily understood resource for the Australian community.

Please send your letter to:
